Do you love me? Feed my sheep (giving hope to the hopeless) – 8/5/20

If we love Jesus, and we love people, then naturally we are going to have a desire to share the gospel with them. There are so many lost souls out there that are without hope, so we should be spreading the love of Christ to them and giving them hope! Hope that is found in Christ alone. Nowhere else can this hope be found. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the ONLY way to eternal life.

May we give hope to the hopeless! May we feed his sheep!

“He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” -John 21:17

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” -Mark 16:15

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” -1 Peter 3:15

From Hopeless, To You – 8/2/20

(A short allegory I wrote about giving hope to the hopeless.)

Mr. Careless has lived his whole life in the Valley of Despair. He spends most of his days strolling down Hopeless Way. One morning he leaves his home and takes his usual walk on this trail, having not a care in the world. This trail is very broad, and everyday he walks back and forth, possessing no purpose in his travel. Without thought and free of care, he journeys through this country. Little did he know though, that this morning is unlike any other morning. This morning will be a morning that changes his life forever.

On the other side of the hill resides Mr. Gives Hope in the town of Agape. Mr. Gives Hope is a man of great faith and is well known throughout this country for his overflowing love that he offers to each person he meets. His desire is to show people their purpose in life and to open their eyes to the meaning of life. He spreads the love of his Master everywhere he goes. Everyone knows that he is a follower of the Great Shepherd. It is clearly seen through the love that he shares and he never denies his Master. It doesn’t take long in conversations before he mentions his faith. Sharing his faith and the hope that only comes from his Master is his main goal in life. He has been given hope of an eternal home that is incomparable to any earthly home, and he wants to share that hope with others. He would willingly give up his life for the Shepherd and his sheep.

Mr. Gives Hope likes to walk in the field of Feed My Sheep, near the Valley of Despair, in hopes that he will meet somebody who is traveling the Hopeless Way, that he may offer them something worth far more than earthly treasures.

As Mr. Gives Hope walked in the field, he saw in the distance Mr. Careless, so he increased his pace to catch up with him. When he finally caught up with him, he called out, “Friend, what brings you here, to Hopeless Way?” Mr. Careless responded, “I have no other thing I could be doing, so I walk this path each day.” Mr. Gives Hope felt a deep sorrow and love in his heart for him, so walked up to him and reached out to hug him. Mr. Careless, confused and unaware, stepped back. He didn’t understand why the man was trying to hug him. Tears ran down Mr. Gives Hope’s eyes as he thought about where Mr. Careless is headed and knowing that he had been living a life full of poverty, and that he is a poor and needy soul. He shares with Mr. Careless the hope of his Master, and the things that his Master, the Great Shepherd, had taught him. He told Mr. Careless that there is more to life than just living. There’s more than aimlessly traveling through this land and he doesn’t have to live a life in bondage to his sin anymore. He can turn to the Great Shepherd and leave his life of sin behind him, but in order to do this, he must take up his cross and follow him. No longer he who lives, but Christ liveth in him. He must follow the Master and not look back. He has to leave behind the things of the world, for he can’t serve two masters. One can’t hold the nail pierced hand of Christ while enjoying the things of the world for which his hands were pierced. Mr Careless’s eyes were opened and he desired to have what he offered him. He didn’t want to wander that Hopeless path any longer. Mr. Gives Hope prayed with Mr. Careless, asking his Master to show him the way; to show him what his plan is and to help him abandon his life of sin and to take up his cross and follow him. Mr. Careless made the choice to abandon Hopeless Way and to follow Mr. Gives Hope to the town of Agape, where the Great Shepherd takes care of his people. No more aimless wandering and purposeless travels. The Great Shepherd openly welcomed him into his land and rejoiced at his coming. He is loved and given purpose. The whole town rejoiced at his conversion. He now walks the Narrow Pathway in his Master’s land. Mr. Careless has been given a new name. He shall no longer be called Mr. Careless, but Servant of El Shaddai, for he has been reborn and surrendered his life to the Great Shepherd. Forever will he dwell in the Masters land.
