-Godly sorrow leadeth to repentance-
I really like the verse psalm 27:4 – desiring to dwell with the Lord all the days of my life. I long for that and hope that I will be accepted in his kingdom, though I’m undeserving. I hope all of my loved ones are there too. All the brothers and sisters I’ve grown close to, near and far…I hope to see them all in heaven. But the way is narrow and few there be that find it. We must enter in at the straight gate and endure until the end. We must finish the race; never give up and never look back to the world. If we sin, we must confess and repent that we may be forgiven. We must have godly sorrow, but realize that Jesus can forgive if we ask and are truly repentant. It’s not the depth of our sins that God cares about, it’s the shallowness of our repentance. Meaning that no matter how bad the sins in our past may be, we can be forgiven! We can be made new in Christ! BUT, we can’t continue to live in sin. We can’t continue in willful sin.
No matter what you’ve been through or are going through, God is there for you. He’s waiting with arms wide open for you to run to him.
Nothing is impossible with God. He is able to mend even what seems to be unmendable. May we give him all the pieces and see what a masterpiece he can create from a wreck. ❤
“For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.” -2 Corinthians 7:10
If we are sincerely sorry for what we did with a godly sorrow, then it will lead us to repentance and to have a loathing of that sin and cause us to not want to turn back to it. If it is only a worldly sorrow, then we may be sorry for a time because of the consequences, but it is only surface level and not a deep shame for something we did wrong. That type of sorrow will result in spiritual death and won’t result in repentance, which is turning from the sin.
Time will tell and God will reveal if someone is truly repentant.
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” -Matthew 7:13-14
Most people would probably say they think they are going to heaven, but it says “few there be that find it”. How many of those people are actually deceived, and rather will end up in the lake of fire? About 33% of the world’s population professes Christianity. If that much of the population actually practiced Christianity then the world would be a whole lot different!
“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” -Revelation 3:15-16
He wants all of your life, not only part of it! He wants to be your life. God is thirsty to be your thirst and hungry to be your hunger. He desires us to love him and to seek elsewhere no longer.
“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” -Matthew 24:13
Finish the race! May God help us all. Nothing this world has to offer us is more sweet than the eternal home we have to look forward to. Nothing is worth throwing that away.
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” -Psalm 34:18
It’s amazing what God can do with a broken heart when given all the pieces. He is there for you even when it feels like no one else is. He is your rock and strength. You can lean on him in times of trouble. He will satisfy your longings. He can restore your broken heart. He can fill the holes and gaps and make full all the voids.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” -1 John 1:9
We can’t conceal our sin and make excuses. We must confess and repent that we may be forgiven. (People can change)
“Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;” -Acts 3:19
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
-Romans 6:1-2
“Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;” -Romans 6:6 (people change)
“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.” -Psalm 27:4
